Who do you work with?
As a woman over 50 and a former corporate professional read more in About Me, I primarily work with women over 50 and women navigating the corporate world. I understand where you are, because I have walked (or am still walking) in your shoes. I have also been through the process of losing weight on GLP-1 medication, having lost 40 pounds. So, I understand the before, during, and after of that type of weight loss and can help you work through your style changes during the process.
But you don’t have to fit neatly into one of these categories to work with me. I love working with all women seeking to refine their style.
What are the benefits of working with a personal stylist? How do I know if it’s right for me?
Working with a personal stylist is about saving time, minimizing frustration, and gaining confidence. It’s not about telling you what you should or shouldn’t wear or completely overhauling your closet.
Most women don’t need more clothes.
They need clarity.
It can be as simple as learning about trends, or as comprehensive as a complete body shape analysis to discover which styles are most flattering for you. The goal is confidence, not perfection. Working with a stylist is especially beneficial during life transitions and the wardrobe changes that accompany them.
What can I expect from a styling session?
Every styling session is personalized to you. There is no one-size-fits-all (pun intended) when it comes to helping you discover (or rediscover) your personal style. The process is collaborative. We will work together to find the style and pieces that work for your style goals. You will gain clarity on what works and why, which will lead to simplifying the process of getting dressed every day. I will leave you with practical next steps so that you can do this on your own. Most clients are surprised by how little they have to change to get the look they desire.
Do I have to change my personal style to work with a stylist? Will you completely change my wardrobe?
Absolutely not. I want you to always feel like yourself. My job is to help you find the best ways to do that. It’s about refinement, not reinvention. Your personality, lifestyle, and preferences are all built into the process. That said, if you are looking to make major changes, I can help with that, too. The best style feels authentic.
Can you work with the clothes I already own? Will you make me get rid of pieces I love?
Most wardrobes already contain great pieces. You don’t have to start from scratch. The goal is to maximize what you already own and add new pieces thoughtfully. If you love something, there is usually a reason, and we can find ways to make it work. You will get my perspective, and we will make decisions together about which pieces to keep and let go of.
What if my lifestyle has changed, but my wardrobe hasn’t?
This is probably one of the most common reasons that my clients seek styling help. Life transitions (new job, retirement, weight loss, etc.) often create wardrobe disconnects. Your wardrobe needs to reflect your current life, and it can sometimes take time to catch up. It’s very normal to outgrow your former wardrobe. Your style should evolve as your life does, and we can work through what that means to you and create solutions for a wardrobe that better suits your current life stage. Weight loss, particularly through GLP-1 medications, is one of the most common life transitions I’m helping clients navigate right now.
What if my body has changed and I don’t know what flatters me anymore?
Our bodies change naturally over time. You’re not imagining it – what worked before may not work now. That can be both frustrating and confusing. You can still keep the style you love by understanding proportions and learning which styles are most flattering for your body today. Many women assume they need to hide their bodies when they really just need a different approach.
Am I too old to wear trends? Can I still dress stylishly without looking like I am trying too hard?
My mantra is simple: “It’s not if you can wear it, it’s how”. You don’t need to wear every trend, but you can adapt the ones you love to fit your lifestyle and preferences. Looking current and looking youthful are not the same thing. Style does not have an expiration date – confidence matters more than age.
Can a personal stylist help me during weight loss on GLP-1 medication?
Yes – before, during, and after. As someone who has been through it, I understand how rapid body changes create unique wardrobe changes. I understand this both emotionally and physically. Rebuilding confidence is just as important as rebuilding a wardrobe. What is color analysis? Should I start with color analysis or personal styling?
Have you ever looked in the mirror, loved what you were wearing, but noticed something still seemed a bit off? It might just be the color. Color analysis identifies the colors that naturally complement you. The right colors can make you look more vibrant and refreshed. Color analysis can also make shopping easier and help you build a more cohesive wardrobe. Learn more about “Why You’ll Love the Results of Color Analysis.”
Neither service is a prerequisite for the other, but they often complement each other. Styling will help you discover the best styles and clothes that flatter your body. Color analysis will take those styles and make them look even better on you. The best starting point depends on your goals.
Do I have to live near you to work together? Do you offer virtual styling and color analysis?
My services are available both in person and virtually. With today’s technology, virtual styling and color analysis can be highly effective. The experience still remains individualized and collaborative. Many clients are surprised by how effective virtual styling can be. Whether you’re across town or across the country, we can work together to achieve your style goals. Read more about my Services.
