Summer Office Wardrobe: Sleeveless but Sophisticated
You can go sleeveless at work—the secret is choosing styles that feel intentional and polished.

I have to share a funny story here and it’s one of those “don’t let this happen to you” stories. Many years ago, when wearing suits to the office was the norm, I decided one day to wear a halter cut top under my jacket. Since I knew I would never take my jacket off, I just wore a regular bra – why not? It’s definitely more comfortable.
Would you believe that the power went out (and this was in mid-summer) which meant the A/C went out too. I was SO hot and I couldn’t take off my jacket! Everyone kept asking me “Aren’t you hot?” and I just kept saying I was fine while the sweat ran down my face. So, since that happened, my motto is to be prepared for anything. While I wouldn’t have wanted to wear a halter-cut top to work, it would have been acceptable in that situation. So, the moral of the story is to be prepared in case you need to take your jacket off!
The Great Pantyhose Debate
Do you still have to wear pantyhose in 2025? Not unless your office strictly requires it.
- Go bare-legged in most business casual settings
- For extra polish or comfort, choose ultra-sheer styles in a skin-tone match
- Sheer-to-waist styles feel light while offering coverage
