Fall Fashion Accessories: They can sometimes be the “also-ran” when we talk about fall fashion trends. We focus so much on what clothing to wear, but accessories should be a key part of the conversation. Sometimes we don’t want to go all-in on a new trend, so we’ll test it out by starting with an accessory. The other thing is that accessories can make an outfit. I find that shopping for accessories can be some of the most fun I have while shopping.
In my previous post, “7 Fall Fashion Trends to Try This Season”, I went into detail about the top seven trends I found and what wardrobe pieces fit within trend and how to shop for them. Now I am extending that post to include the fall fashion accessories that match with those trends. So, let’s get started.

Fall Fashion Accessories Trends: Ladylike Elegance Trend
Ladylike Elegance is the trend that I saw the most when I was doing my research. For clothing, there is a shift towards elevated silhouettes. This includes softly molded tops and pencil skirts and court heels. You will also see “hourglass” blazers with nipped-in waist along with lady jackets, shearling stoles, blazer dresses and 50’s couture cocktail dresses. We’re also seeing the return of ultra-slim pants like Audrey Hepburn’s cigarette pants.

Boho Trend
For Boho clothing this season think crochet, fringe, suede, dark florals and lace. Boho style is usually more loose and flowy, so if you like some of the boho elements, but not the fit, accessories are a great way to go.

Fall Fashion Accessories Trends: Preppy Trend
Preppy is another one of those trends that never really goes out of style, but it can come and go in popularity. The rise of popularity of pickleball and tennis fashions have brought back the interest in preppy fashion. Think full skirts, button down shirts, sharp blazers and V-neck sweaters. You can also add in varsity jackets, bold plaids and polo knits.
One look that I am calling a subset of preppy is “Country House Chic”. It’s dressing like you’re going to a house in the English Countryside. Think plaids, relaxed layers, long skirts, waxed jackets and checked coats.

Accent Trend: Fringe, Bows, Feathers and Rosettes
The craziness over bows from just last year is over, but they are still popular this season. I mentioned that fringe is back from a Boho perspective, but it is also big in Western wear this season. Feathers are also interesting. They were once indicative of social status, but now, from a pure fashion perspective, they give clothing an innate sense of drama.
